trip to Thassos Island Thassos,
also called the Emerald Island is located in the Gulf of Kavala, in northern Aegean
Sea and is just 8 km from the Greek mainland. In part it the largest island measuring
22 km from East to West, 26 km from north to south and has a circumference of
about 100 km. Thus, the island of Thassos is smaller than Rhodes Island and greater
than Samotraki Island. The
beaches: Island beaches have a charm and so we recommend you visit as many of
them. Tipiti Beach, although it has too many features, is very popular among
tourists. Located near Limenaria landscape around them is one of the most impressive
of the island. Golden Beach stretches along two villages: Skala Panagia and
Skala Potamia. The beach is vast, wide and surrounded by greenery. Food
and drinks: Thassos is famous for its culinary specialties. Taverns and restaurants
serve a variety of dishes of fish and seafood. In parts of the mountains you will
find taverns, along with fish, grilled meat
served and prepared with their own recipes. A big meal costs around 10 euros per
person, one beer (Mythos Greek traditional beer) is 1 euro in the supermarket
and 2 euros at the terrace, the coffee is between 2 and cost 3 euros and a cocktail
is about 5-6 euros. We advise you to try the seafood, musacaua, saganaki and tzatziki. Shopping:
Thassos has many shops where you can buy virtually anything. You'll find here
from antiques
to fine jewelry and leather goods of exceptional quality. In order to better understand
local color you'll find shops with traditional products: honey pine, olive, wine
and goat cheese. Shops are open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays between 9:00
and 15:00, and Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9:00 and 20:00. Tourist shops are
open seven days a week between 9:00 and 22:00. Bars,
cafes, clubs: You'll find them especially near the shore resorts. Here is a list

Bar, Potos: Navsika Cafe Bar, Boomerang Bar, Skala Prinos: Elysee Cafe, Cafe Bar
Clasicco. You can end the day in Bolero, one of the most popular open-air discos
on the island. Most young people meet here in the evening after 22:00. The music
is for everyone's taste and the disco is open till morning.
